Ejercicios y actividades para diferenciar el Present Simple y el Present Continuous

El presente simple y el presente continuo son dos de los tiempos verbales más utilizados en inglés. Ambos se refieren al tiempo presente, pero significan cosas muy diferentes. ¿Cuál es la diferencia?
El presente simple se utiliza para expresar rutinas, hechos y horarios:
I go to school every day. She works in a bank.
El presente continuo se utiliza para expresar acciones que están ocurriendo en este momento o que son temporales:
I’m going to school now. She’s working on a new project this week.
Al principio es fácil confundirlos. Especialmente si en español todo parece igual: «Estoy leyendo» puede significar tanto «estoy leyendo ahora» como «suelo leer». Por eso es importante no solo aprender la regla, sino practicar con ejemplos reales.

Ejercicio 1: Inserte la forma correcta del verbo (Present Simple o Present Continuous)

Inserte el verbo entre paréntesis en la forma correcta: Present Simple o Present Continuous. Preste atención a los marcadores de tiempo (every day, now, at the moment, always, etc.).
Ejemplo: She ___ (watch) TV now. → She is watching TV now.

Ejercicio 2: Elija la forma correcta del verbo

En cada oración, elija cuál forma del verbo es correcta: Present Simple o Present Continuous.
Ejemplo:She (goes / is going) to the gym every Friday. → goes

Ejercicio 3: Corrija el error en el tiempo verbal

Lea atentamente cada oración. Determine qué tiempo verbal está usado incorrectamente y corríjalo al adecuado: Present Simple o Present Continuous.
Ejemplo: He is going to school every day. → He goes to school every day.

Ejercicio 4: Forme oraciones en Present Simple y Present Continuous

Para cada situación, escriba:
Una oración en Present Simple — sobre una acción habitual.
Una oración en Present Continuous — sobre una acción que ocurre ahora.
Ejemplo:
Situación: Ella siempre lee antes de dormir. Ahora está leyendo una novela.
→ She always reads before bed.
→ She is reading a novel right now.

1. Él trabaja en una oficina. Ahora trabaja desde casa.
2. Jugamos a juegos de mesa con frecuencia. Ahora estamos jugando al ajedrez.
3. No veo la televisión entre semana. Pero ahora estoy viendo una serie.
4. Ella va al trabajo en autobús. Hoy va en taxi.
5. Ellos van al gimnasio los fines de semana. Ahora están entrenando allí.
6. Mamá cocina el almuerzo todos los días. Ahora está cocinando la cena.
7. Vivimos en Alemania. Ahora estamos viviendo en casa de la abuela.
8. Él normalmente no usa gafas. Pero ahora las está usando.
9. Tú escuchas música a menudo. Ahora estás escuchando un pódcast.
10. Los niños juegan en el patio todos los días. Ahora están jugando en casa.
11. Ella escribe artículos a menudo. Ahora está escribiendo un informe.
12. No almuerzo en cafeterías. Pero hoy estoy almorzando allí.
13. Él estudia inglés. Ahora está tomando una clase en línea.
14. Siempre desayunamos en casa. Hoy estamos desayunando en una cafetería.

Ejercicio 5: Elija la oración correcta según el contexto

En cada ejercicio se da una situación y dos opciones de oraciones. Su tarea es elegir la que mejor transmite el significado y usa correctamente el Present Simple o el Present Continuous.
Ejemplo:
Situación: Él está viendo una película ahora mismo.
